Summer of 2022, I’d gotten exciting news: JemCon was going to be coming to my home state of Rhode Island in summer of 2023! Jem and the Holograms is one of my ABSOLUTE favorite shows and I’d been longing to attend JemCon for years. And now that it was so close to me? I got to be heavily involved!

Every year, JemCon has a souvenir fashion: a doll sized outfit that a group of seamstresses and craft makers assemble that’s made available at the con. I pitched the concept for the fashion contest theme this year: we’re in the Ocean State, why not do a beach day theme? So Rockin’ Romance On The Rhode Island Oceanfront became the official theme for this year’s contest!

Micheal Artice created the winning design. I helped out with sewing some of the swimsuits. The fashion team did an incredible job, the final look was so beautiful!

Having had over a year to prepare, I created a lot of art for the con: prints, keychains, stickers, cards, a LOT of new stock! I also sold some leftover stock from 90s Con. And it wasn’t just my table…

I was so happy to table with Emma Kate Ramsey! She’s a truly incredible artist: creating the art for the badges and the souvenir fashion box art, in addition to having her own wonderful prints, stickers and pins!

I had known Emma Kate for a long time online, but this was our first time meeting in person. That was a very exciting part of the con: meeting everyone! Some of the special guests included original speaking voice for Jem, Samantha Newark and toy designer, Stefanie Eskander.

JemCon was the MOST fun convention experience I’ve had! I had such an incredible time meeting everyone, admiring the dolls, cosplaying and selling my art. Hope to do JemCon again in the future! 💖
